Amazon bringing Alexa to Fire TV

Amazon bringing Alexa to Fire TV

Soon you will not need to buy the Amazon Echo. It looks like Amazon has decided to bring the digital assistant to the Fire TV.

Based on some source code hidden in the new Fire OS 5 developer preview AFTVNews claims that the digital assistant will soon be available to Fire TV with a software update. Alexa on Fire TV should be able to do most of the things she can do with the Echo device.

Some of the features include the ability to order products from Amazon, listen to music, check your calendar and ask random questions. You will also have the ability to hear the news, check the weather and check on your favourite team.

The rumour suggests that Fire TV will be unable to connect with the rest of your smart home setup. On the other hand, Echo is able to connect to a variety of products from Wink, SmartThings and more, making it a central hub for your entire house.

The company is expected to release a new Fire TV pretty soon that will include 4K support, giving it a nice advantage over the new Apple TV.
