Android Wear now works with your iPhone

Google has just announced that its Android Wear devices are now compatible with the iPhone 5 or later running at least iOS 8.2. The company is, currently, rolling out an official Android Wear companion app for iOS.

Android Wear for iPhone users has several features including third-party watch faces, fitness tracking, notifications, Google Now and voice searches. Android Wear for iPhone will come with several pre-installed apps such as the Weather and Translate apps. Due to some Apple limitations, rich notifications are only supported for a bunch of  Google apps and the selection of watch faces is limited due to the lack of third-party app support.

The Android Wear app for iOS is only compatible with the new LG Watch Urbane, the upcoming Asus ZenWatch 2 and Huawei Watch and all future Android Wear smartwatches. Google announced that the Android Wear app for iOS does’t officially support existing Android Wear smartwatches but some users claim that they managed to get their smartwatches working after a factory reset.
