Apple launches program for third-party Watch strap makers

Apple has just launched its “Made for Apple Watch” program and provides makers with a list of design requirements to follow, similar to its “Made for iPhone” program for accessory creators. Apple Watch features interchangeable straps with just the press of a button.

Is essential for Apple to control the straps and approve them so they meet its standards levels. Strap makers have to make sure their straps fit well, and make sure that the watch is in contact with the skin for the heart sensor to work properly. Another requirement from apple is that the straps need to comply with environmental regulations. Hopefully, accessory makers will take advantage of the device’s hidden diagnostic port that can transmit data and power at faster rates. In the mean time you can just read the company’s full requirements on the program’s website.
