Apple to launch a 4K 21.5-inch iMac in October

Apple is expected to announce an updated 21.5-inch iMac with a 4K display at the end of October, reports 9to5Mac

The rumors are based on a code in OS X El Capitan that points towards a 21.5-inch machine with a resolution of 4096 x 2304. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the iMac line would receive a refresh this quarter, adding new processors and improved display quality that brings greater color saturation.

Due to Intel’s ongoing Broadwell chip delays, and the 21.5-inch iMac has not seen an update since 2013. The latest update was last year with the introduction of the 4K display into the 27 inch iMac.

Personally I think it will be a good idea to have a 4K 21.5-inch iMac and a retina one with a lower price tag.  One thing is for sure, the display on the current 21.5-inch iMac looks outdated and an update is required.
