Apple wants to turn Siri into your ‘receptionist’

According to Business InsiderApple is testing a new feature that will allow Siri to take your phones calls, record them and transcribe them to text.

The service is rumored to be called iCloud Voicemail, and will use a similar technology to the current visual voicemail, but instead of playing a pre-recorded messages, Siri will take over your calls, let certain contacts know why you are unable to take the call and where you are provided you give permission.

Is unclear whether the system would require carrier support as Apple’s visual voicemail is currently only supported with selected operators. Also is not clear if the service will provided for free. Apple’s employees are reportedly testing the service, and if it’s reliable enough, we might see the service available along with iOS 10. These are just rumors and as always take them with a pinch of salt.
