Atom, a new UK bank with no branches, just apps

Atom Bank has received its full licence from the Bank of England, moving the digital-only lender one step closer to opening to customers.  The bank has an alternative approach to traditional banks, it does not have any branches . Atom decided to take mobile banking seriously and to another lever, by offering all banking services through an app.

Atom will have a 24-hour support team available by email, webchat, though social networks and phone, but the idea is you can do everything from within the mobile app. Atom stated that their apps will not just allow you to move money but the apps will include support for biometric security and will feature “unique and engaging ways to manage money.” The bank will be ‘branch-less’ but at the beginning it will have a partner bank so customers can deposit money and cheques.

Atom plans to launch later this year, first using mobile apps to offer its services and then will also support desktops in due course.
