Apple Music is set to launch on June 30th. With less than a week to go much of the attention is turned to the guest artists and DJs that will be playing on Beats 1 Radio. Beats 1 will start broadcasting with DJ Zane Lowe in Los Angeles, Ebro Darden in New York and Julie Adenuga in London.
On the announcement it was unclear how programming gaps between the three main hosts will be bridged. However, the New York Times today reported that Apple has lined up a number of high-profile musicians such as Pharrell Williams, Drake and even Elton John that they will be hosting their own shows on Beats 1. Elton will reportedly host “Elton John’s Rocket Hour,” which will feature an “eclectic mix of old songs and new.” Currently there is no word on Drake or Pharrell Williams’ shows.
In terms of guests, DJ Zane Lowe has revealed that Eminem will be his fist high-profile musician guest.
Apple is hopping that listeners will be tuned on Beats 1 to discover new music but also to come closer to their favourites musicians. Apple state that Beats 1 will be playing 24/7 around the globe with no limitations on genre.
