BlackBerry’s new DTEK60 Android Phone is now available for Pre-order in Canada online

BlackBerry has been struggling to sell its phones in the market. This year, the Canadian smartphone maker is hoping to bounce back following its first Android phone, the Priv which failed to live up with expectations. Last month, BlackBerry launched its second Android phone, the DTEK50 with all the stepped up features and updates.

We have heard stories that BlackBerry is planning to launch another Android phone this year, the DTEK60. Even though the new phone has not been announced yet, it is now available for Pre-Orders in Canada online. Accordingly, the new phone will sport a 699.99 CAD price tag and will hit stores in Canada on 10/11/2016.

The DTEK60 is expected to be BlackBerry’s strategic plan to revive its declining business this year. The Canadian smartphone manufacturer, earlier this week, leaked the new phone’s specs on its own website. Accordingly, the DTEK60 has seen a big upgrade this year when comparing to its recently introduced DTEK50.

The BlackBerry DTEK60 will come with a 5.5 QHD display which sports a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor and Adreno 530 GPU. It will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot that supports further expansion up to 1 TB. The phone’s rear shooter consists of 21 MP, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and dual-LED flash. There is also an 8 MP front-facing camera and we will also have support for 1080p video recordings

The DTEK60 also supports multiple connectivity methods including 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/as, Bluetooth V4.2, GPS, and NFC. A 3,000mAh non-removable battery powers the phone and you can charge it via a USB Type C port.

Regarding new features, the phone has been rumored to feature a fingerprint sensor on the rear side of the phone, allowing you to unlock the device without even touching the screen. Besides, we will have support for gesture-based navigation, but it won’t come with a physical keyboard as expected. There might be chances that the DTEK60 will runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, Blackberry has not made any official announcements about the existence of the phone. But the chances are that the DTEK60 will be available in Canada only.

BlackBerry’s second Android phone, DTEK50 is the world’s most secure Android phone from BlackBerry. The device is now priced at 300 USD. Speaking of specs, the phone features a 5.2-inch Full HD display and it is fueled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and 3GB of RAM. The internal storage comes with 16GB and it can be expandable via microSD card.  Other specs include Quick Charge 2.0 and a 2.610 battery.

The DTEK60 may not be announced yet, but it is really something that BlackBerry fans have been waiting for following disappointing the Priv. Hopefully, BlackBerry will make an official announcement soon. However, if you now live in Canada, you can place your order now and wait until the device is officially made available next Tuesday.
