ChargePoint has a $500 electric car charger that wants to put in your garage

If you currently own an electric car you should then be familiar with ChargePoint. ChargePoint offers the biggest electric car charging network out there, and most of the chargers are free.

Later this summer, the company stated that they are launching a new charger that electric car owners will be able to put in their own garage with a $500 price tag.
First announced at the CES it was unclear how much the charger would cost but the company has just announced that its chargers will start for $500 and go up to $750, depending on how much power it puts out, how it’s installed and how long its charging cord is.
This device is not a first for the company but clearly it’s the smartest device ever from the brand. The ChargePoint Home is a WiFi connected system that integrates with the company’s larger charging network and it comes with the company’s mobile app. You will be able to track where and when you charged your car and schedule remote charging but also to set charge reminders. The company also revealed that the system will be able to connect with Nest to facilitate energy savings or shut the system down when is needed.

The company hasn’t announced the official sale date yet. The only information revealed was that the system will be available on Amazon later this summer.
