Facebook is now the most used social networking site in the world with 1.65 billion users. The Menlo Park-based Company has always been adding new features to its social network in order to attract more users. Last year, the social network launched its highly-anticipated feature live stream for celebrities, its first step into the world of live streaming video. Earlier this year, Facebook rolled out the feature to everyone around the world, giving Facebook users a solid reason to never log out of Facebook.
Facebook has today introduced official scheduling feature for Verified pages, allowing famous broadcasters to promote their streams before going live. This means that users may be notified about videos up to a week in advance. According to Facebook, every time you schedule your video, an announcement will be published to your News Feed, informing your followers of the upcoming broadcast. Followers can choose to get a one-time notification reminding them about the stream shortly before it starts. Besides, viewers can interact with other viewers in a pre-broadcast chat room ahead of live time.
The unveiling of Live video scheduling feature eliminates the need to spontaneously announce your stream or share your Facebook stream link on other social networks. All you have to do now is to create a link up a week in advance, making it much easier for your followers to arrange time to watch your live video, allowing for bigger audiences.
Live video Scheduling feature is for now applied to Pages using the Facebook Live API. If you are an admin page, but you have no idea how to schedule your video, Facebook will help you. The biggest social network has provided its step-by-step guide to help you get the most out of the new feature
Step one: Once you are in Facebook, locate Publishing Tools. After that, select “Video Library” and then “Live”
Step two: Next up, copy your stream’s credentials that could be a steam key or Server URL
Step three: Write an announcement post for your live stream. Make sure that you provide informative description so your fans know what they are going to see about your video.
Step four: Complete your announcement post. You can change the description if you want to. Once you are done, the announcement will be published to your News Feed.
Live scheduling feature could be Facebook’s strategic plan to compete with Periscope, a live video streaming app for iOS and Android, and Youtube Live. According to Facebook, the Company is planning to launch the new feature to all other Pages in the coming weeks.
Facebook’s Live video scheduling is a nice feature, helping broadcasters get more time to advertise their live streams ahead of time. If you are an Admin page using the Facebook Live API, make sure that you don’t miss it.
