Galaxy S7 to feature new aluminum alloy

A new report out of Korea suggests that Samsung could be experimenting with a new aluminum-magnesium alloy for its upcoming flagship Galaxy S7.

Samsung currently uses high-strength 6013 series aluminum which is the same material included in cars and airplanes, so there is no issue with durability of the metal. However, an anonymous industry official stated that the main “ goal is to produce a smooth surface like the iPhone with aluminum”. So the reason for the new metal might just be the iPhone 6s.

Apple also upped its own design to 7000-series aluminum for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus and Samsung might just want to keep up with its chief rival, even thought a new material will not make such a big difference.

The upcoming Galaxy S7 is rumoured to sport a dual-camera setup in back and a phablet-sized 5.7-inch screen. All this are just rumors and the the Galaxy S7  is expected to arrive early next year, giving  the company plenty of time before it has to start producing the S7.
