If you are now using Dropbox to keep your photos, videos and documents secure and safe, keep in mind that the mobile version of Dropbox keeps a cache of files for emergency purposes and future access. If you just stand there and let your files build up over time, chances are that you have not got enough room for new photos captured with your iPhone.
If your iPhone’s storage has started to shrink, it’s time you cleared Dropbox caches to free up some storage space on your iOS device. In reality, Dropbox never allows you to set a limit on cache size. This means that your iPhone will be running out of storage space quickly over time. Luckily, with the release of iOS 10, Apple now allows users to better manage app caches and remove items to get more space.
In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the steps to clear Dropbox caches on your iPhone. Before we get started, make sure that you are running a modern version of Dropbox.
Step one: First off, launch the Dropbox app from your home screen and tap the Recents tab on the left to proceed
Step two: Next up, you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap the Clear Cache option
Step three: Next up, tap Clear Cache again from the pop-up menu
That’s what you need to do to clear Dropbox caches on your iPhone. Note that doing so may cause your file to take longer to load on your device, but your offline will remain intact. Besides, keep in mind that the process may take a few minutes or more depending on the size of Dropbox’s cache on your device.
If you want to check how much storage offline files are taking up on your device, Dropbox allows you to easily do that. You simply need to head to the Settings within the app and select Offline Files.
