HMD Global to launch a global variant of the Nokia 6

Earlier this year, HMD Global, the company that secured the exclusive Nokia branding licensing rights in mobile phones, made waves by announcing that it would release a new Nokia-branded smartphone called Nokia 6 this year. True to its words, HMD Global has recently announced Nokia 6, but the new handset is available in the Chinese market at only, which is very frustrating.

Nokia 6 turned into a craze, as it received up to 250.000 registrations in the less than 24 hours of being launched in China and was quickly sold out after one minute of availability. However, HMD Global has not specified how many Nokia 6 units were sold during its first day of availability.

Nokia 6 has received mostly positive reviews from users and tech experts and we are expecting to see the device go on sale outside of China in the future. According to reports, Nokia is planning to launch a global variant of the Nokia 6 this year. Many find these reports somewhat to be plausible, seeing how Nokia made the device available in the Philippines.

According to sources, HMD Global will launch Nokia 6 in the Indian market this year. In reality, Indian users can get the device via eBay, but the price is almost double than the price of the handset in China. However, things are going to change. A global variant of Nokia 6 has been recently certified in Taiwan, which is carrying the model number TA-1003.

Sources say that the global variant of Nokia 6 will feature the same specs as the Chinese version of the device. Besides, to make the device global, Nokia needs to equip the device with LTE, CDMA, and GSM. Tech experts say that the global variant of the Nokia 6 will be available at this year’s Mobile World Congress. Besides, Nokia is expected to unveil three new phones at the event including Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and a resurrected iconic Nokia 3310.
