The best part is that Windows 10 includes a built-in backup tool that allows you to create a full backup of your computer without the need for a third-party app to be installed on your device.

In this tutorial, we will go through the steps to create a full backup of your computer. Before we begin, make sure you are now running Windows 10 on your machine. If not, update your device first.

  1. How to create an image backup in Windows 10

Windows 10 features a handy tool called image backup that allows you to copy everything on your hard drive, including programs and settings. This serves as the best way to protect your precious data in case of file corruption. If you need help, you can check out the steps below. Before proceeding, make sure you now have an Administrator account and an external hard drive.

Step one: First off, open Control Panel on your computer and then click on System and Security to proceed

Step two: Next up, locate the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) section and click on it. Once you are in, hit the Create a system image from the left pane

Step three: On the next screen, click on the On a hard disk option and select the disk where you want to save the backup

Step four: Now just simply hit the Start backup button at the bottom to start the backup process. Once done, you will be asked to create a system repair disk that contains your Windows system recovery tools, so you can restore Windows in case something goes wrong.

Step five: Once you are done, disconnect the external hard drive.

  1. How to recover Windows from a system image backup

If your Windows breaks, you can recover your Windows from an image backup. You can follow the steps below (make sure you connect the external hard drive that contains image backup to your machine).

Step one: Connect the disk that has the system repair files to your computer and reboot your device

Step two: Your computer will display the setup screen. From here, click Next at the bottom right corner and select Repair your computer

Step three: On the next screen, click the Troubleshoot option and select the System Image Recovery to proceed

Step four: Once you are done, choose a target operating system and check the box next to Use the latest available system image. After that, hit Next and select your option

Step five: Hit Finish and click Yes to complete the task.
