How to create extra storage on the Google Pixel

Google officially announced its Pixel-branded phones, Pixel and Pixel XL that replace the current Nexus devices. The new pair bring in a slew of new exclusive features that give users a solid reason to get them at launch. Whether it is Pixel Launcher, Google Assistant or unlimited Google Photos storage, Google Pixel is something you don’t want to miss at all.

However, the Google Pixel doesn’t offer expandable storage, which is a little bit disappointing. If you want to make sure that there is enough room for your apps, games and other contents, you need to spend more money getting the 128GB variant. But, if you are one of those with limited budget, what are you going to do now? Don’t worry because we are here to help.

The Google Pixel includes several built-in tools that help you free up your space. In this post, we will cover both methods that help you create extra storage on your Google Pixel

Steps to delete photos and videos that you have uploaded to the cloud

Photos and videos may be the culprit that takes up a considerable amount of your space, thereby slowing down your device. The best shot for fixing the issue is to delete them. Here is how you do it:

Step one: First and foremost, launch the Google Photos from your home screen or your app drawer

Step two: Next up, swipe into your screen from the left to bring up side menu.

Step three: Tap “Free up space” from the menu. After that, you will see all the photos stored in the cloud. All you have to do now is to tap Remove to delete them from your phone

Note that: These photos are still available, so you can download them at any time to access them locally.

Steps  to remove old downloads and unnecessary apps

There is a useful feature hidden inside the Settings app of the phone that allows you to delete all the apps that have not been active for a while (over 30 days). To do this, you can use the steps below:

Step one: The first thing you need to do is to open the notification drawer by swiping down on the notification shade

Step two: Tap on the Settings icon. Once you are in, scroll down to Storage and tap on it

Step three: Next up, tap on the three-dot menu button, and then select Free up space

Step four: Choose items that you want to remove and tap Free up.

Once you are done, the phone will remove all the chosen items to free up space. To make sure that you get more space on your phone, you can press the back button to see how much space you got now.
