Windows 10 is one of the best optimized desktop operating systems Microsoft has ever released to the public. Windows 10 includes what we have loved about Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, thus offering a much better user experience. Windows 10 has been through several updates since the launch day, with the introduction of new features and changes. One such feature lies in Settings app tips.
With a new version of Windows 10, you can get tips in Settings app that help you make the most of your OS. While this may come in handy for newcomers, a number of pro users may find those tips annoying. If you happen to sit in the latter group, then you can easily remove those Settings app tips.
In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to remove Windows 10’s Settings app tips. Before we begin, make sure you now have Windows 10 version 1709 installed on your device. If not, update your device first.
If you are now running Windows 10 Pro, then you can use Group Policy to remove tips in the Settings app. If you need help, make sure you follow our steps below.
Step one: First off, open the Run command on your machine. To do this, press the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut
Step two: Next up, type gpedit.msc and hit OK to open the Local Policy Editor. Once you are done, browse the following path Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel and then double-click the Allow Policy Tips option from the right side window
Step three: When a new menu shows up, make sure you select the Disable option and then hit Apply
Step four: Once you are done, just simply click OK. After that, open the Settings app from the Start Menu and settings app tips should be removed.
If you now have the Home version of Windows 10 installed on your device, you can use Registry to remove those annoying tips. Before proceeding, note that editing Registry is risky, as it may cause your computer to malfunction, so make sure you comply with your steps below.
Step one: Open the Run command and then type regedit. After that, hit OK to open the Registry , then copy the following path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and paste it into the address bar
Step two: Once you are in, perform a right-click on the Explorer, then select New and hit DWORD (32-bit) Value from the pull-down menu
Step three: Under the Value Name, enter the key AllowOnlineTips and hit Enter. After that, double-click your new DWORD, then change the value to 0 and hit OK.
