How to fix 5 common problems on Galaxy S7/S7 Edge

You are using one of the best flagships of Samsung, galaxy S7/S7 edge. However, there are still some unfortunate issues happening with your smartphone. In this article, we will list some of the common problems of Samsung Galaxy S7/Galaxy S7 Edge and offer potential solutions on how to fix them.

Problem 1: “Warning, Camera failed” error

Many users have found that when they open the camera app, the screen is blank, and followed by a message: “warning, camera failed.” This issue has primarily happened with the Galaxy S7 users, but some Galaxy S7 Edge users have come across this problem as well.

  • The Smart Stay feature can cause this issue. It uses the front camera to keep a track when you look at the phone and that seems to create a problem when trying to load the rear camera. The temporary solution to fix the problem: Go to Settings – Display and turn off Smart Stay
  • This is a known issue and we hope in the future an update from Samsung will be released soon for users.

Problem 2:  The unresponsiveness of buttons and capacitive keys

A few users have found that the power button and volume down button do not work suddenly, and the capacitive Recent Apps key and the physical Home button seem to be not responding as well.

  • Boot the device into Safe Mode (power off device then turn on again, press and hold the volume down button until a “Safe Mode” button appear. Tap the button to boot your device in safe mode) and see if the issue persists.
  • Press and hold the power button and volume down button for a few seconds, until the device restarts.
  • If the Recent Apps key and Home button do not work, turn off Car Mode in  Settings.

Problem 3: Distorted audio and “moisture detected” alert

The Galaxy S7 is integrated IP68 standard for dust and water resistance. The device can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water in 30 minutes without an impact on performance. However, some users found the audio from the speakers to sound distorted and others see that their devices do not charge, with a “moisture detected” alert pop- up.

  • Wipe down the device as soon as it is out of the water
  • Use a bag of rice if you are worried
  • Avoid using a blow dryer as the intense heat may affect the components
  • The “moisture detected” alert keeps away from any problems when plugging in the device to charge

Problem 4: ‘Auto correct’ issue with stock Samsung keyboard

A few users have found the ‘auto correct’ feature of the stock Samsung keyboard happened in weird ways. When ending a sentence with an exclamation point or a question mark, the auto corrected word changes to something different and unrelated.

The only option here is to turn off the ‘auto correct’ feature or use a third-party keyboard from Play Store. Hopefully, a future software update will address this problem.

Problem 5:  Connectivity issue

Many users have faced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection issue when they buy a new Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge. The devices have to suffer from a serious Wi-Fi connectivity issue, but that has been addressed with a software update.

Wi-Fi issue

  • Turn the device and the Wi-Fi router off for at least ten seconds, then turn them on and retry the connection.
  • In Settings choose Power Saving and ensure that this option is turned off.
  • Forget the Wi-Fi connection by going to Settings – Wi-Fi and tap the Wi-Fi connection you want, then choose“Forget”. Re-enter the password and try again.
  • Make sure the router firmware is up to date.
  • Update applications and software on the device to the latest versions.
  • Go into Wi-Fi – Settings – Advanced and check your device MAC address, make sure that it is allowed to access in the router’s MAC filter.

Bluetooth issue

  • Check the manufacturer’s manual for the device and reset your connections
  • Go into Settings – Bluetooth delete the prior pairings and try to set them up again from scratch.
