Whenever you first start your laptop running Windows 10, you will see an ad that appears on the login screen. Have you ever wondered the reason for this? Well, this is the work of the Window Spotlight feature integrated into your Personalization settings. But fortunately, you can turn it off to remove ads that annoy you. If you do not want to be hit with these ads, just follow the step-by-step instructions below to disable Windows Spotlight.
Step 1: To remove Windows 10’s lock screen ads, click on your Start Menu, then launch the Settings app.
Step 2: Now select the Personalization setting, then select Lock Screen tab.
Step 3: Find the option Window Spotlight and click on it. You can also switch this to display either a Picture or a Slideshow, it’s up to your personal preference.
Step 4: When you have selected the new style of login screen, turn off the option Get fun facts, tips, tricks, and more on your lock screen by switching it to off so that the bar is white instead of blue.
From now on, whenever opened up your Windows 10 laptop, you will no longer see ads that appear on your login screen.
If you do not find it annoying as the ads appear, moreover, you want to see if content matches your interests or not, you can tell Microsoft by tapping on the icon in the upper-right corner of your lock screen. There is a drop-down menu appearing on the screen, now you can select either I want more! or Not a fan.
The former will provide you with more content related to that specific kind of ad, meanwhile, the latter will change it to a different picture the next time you log in or prevent similar content from appearing in the future.
