Huawei officially launches Honor 6X with a giant 5.5 inch screen and 4GB of RAM

The Chinese smartphone maker, Huawei today announced its new smartphone called Honor 6X after months of waiting. Previously, the Chinese side sent out invites to the press requesting attendance at its launch event.

The Honor 6X is now official following the huge success of the Honor 5X, which saw more than 8 million units sold in the first nine months of availability. That made it one of the bestselling mid-range smartphones last year. With the Honor 6X unveiling, the mid-range smartphone competition becomes more intense among the giants this year. Earlier this month, Motorola launched its trio of smartphones, Moto Z, Moto Z Play and Moto Mods in India and we also have Oppo R9s with 6G of RAM, which is now official.

In case of Honor 6X, the new device sports a 5.5-inch screen with resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and covered in 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, the Honor 6X is fueled by an Octa-Core Kirin 655 16nm processor, along with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM depending on the version you buy and 32GB of internal storage.

The biggest difference between the Honor 6X and Honor 5X lies in a dual sensor rear camera found on the 2016 model. Accordingly, the Honor 6X includes a 12MP rear camera with phase-detection auto-focus and LED flash. Beside that, the device includes a secondary camera for depth of field and background blur and an 8MP front-facing camera. Noticeably, the Honor 6X features a fingerprint reader that allows users to unlock their device in 0.3 seconds. The Honor 6X also supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. There is a microSD slot that offers 128GB of more storage.

The new device will be available in Gold, Silver, Grey, Blue and Rose Gold colors, and carries a 148 USD price tag for the 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage, and 192 USD for 4GB RAM with 32GB storage, while the 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage version is priced at 237 USD. If you are interested in getting the device, and you live in China, you can pre-order it starting today and will get the device on October 25.

Aside from the new Honor 6X, Huawei also unveiled the Honor Pad 2 and Honor Watch S1 at launch event in China. The Honor Pad 2 is a new tablet that comes with an 8 inch Full HD display, an octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor and an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture.

The Honor Watch S1 is considered as the successor to the Huawei Watch, released last year. The new wearable includes a heart rate monitor and water-resistance capability. Besides, the new smartwatch carries a 1.04-inch black/white touchscreen with resolution of 208 × 208 pixel and 103 USD price tag.
