Huawei to launch a $800 gold-plated smartwatch

A new rumor suggest that the Chinese tech giant Huawei will launch its new smartwatch in four different flavours. The ‘entry-level version will be made out of stainless steel starts at $349 (about £227) with a leather strap. The high-end model is rumored to be priced at around $799 (about £519) and will me made out of gold-plated stainless steel. The wearable will probably be among the priciest Android Wears devices available. The rumor also suggests that the device will be compatible with iOS 8.2 or later, but there is doubt about that.

With a starting price of $349 the device matches the price of the  LG Watch Urbane which I think will be the Watch’s closest competition. Together with the $349 and $799 devices, Huawei will also launch a black stainless steel model with a matching strap priced at $499 (about £324 )and another gold-plated model with a leather strap at around $699 (about £454). Huawei’s smartwatch is expected to arrive on September 2 at IFA.
