Huawei to unveil its Magic smartphone on December 16

Huawei is the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer, accounting for nearly 10 percent of the smartphone maker in Q2 2016. The Chinese side is best known for offering smartphones with crazy specs at affordable costs. Huawei today announced that it will introduce a new smartphone dubbed Magic, the first concept smartphone on December 16.

According to Huawei, the Magic smartphone will come under Honor branding. Huawei previously released a teaser for the unveiling of the smartphone. However, Huawei did not offer any details about the upcoming smartphone. According to Honor CEO George Zhao, the Magic smartphone will come with much enhanced quality and specifications, making it stand in line with other top-tier smartphones in the market.

In reality, there were a lot rumors floating around about Huawei’s Magic smartphone. Accordingly, the new handset is believed to come with a 6 inch bezel-less screen, which reminds of one of the recently launched Xiaomi Mi Mix. Besides, the upcoming handset has been rumored to include the company’s own fast charging battery technology, which promises to offer a 50 percent battery charge in just five minutes. Sources say that the Magic smartphone will be available in China in very limited quantities and Huawei has no plan for a wider rollout of the device.

Previously, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer announced its top-tier smartphone Honor 6X following the huge success of the predecessor, Honor 5X, which saw more than 8 million units sold only nine months after launch. Honor 6X features 5.5 inch display with resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Under the hood, the device is powered by an Octa-Core Kirin 655 16nm processor along with 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

Competition among the Chinese smartphone makers has been intense in recent years. Huawei’s rival, Xiaomi has recently launched MI MIX in China with a 6.4 inch 2040×1080 resolution display, Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 16 MP rear camera.
