The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are finally here. If you have just bought a shiny iPhone 7 and you want to transfer your data, pictures, apps, passwords and even more from your old iPhone to your new one, we have to say “Congratulations!” because you are now in the right place.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to migrate your data from old iPhone to a new iPhone 7 and all your data will be securely transferred to your new iPhone so don’t worry about losing pictures, apps or anything.

You may be wondering how we do it. We will instruct you how to create a fresh encrypted backup that can be done with iCloud, iTunes or both. However, remember that you will just need to use one of the backups you have made to restore and transfer your stuff to your device, so we recommend you back up your old device using either iTunes or iCloud.

  1. How to back up your older iPhone

As mentioned above, there are two different ways to back up your data. We will cover both ways on how you create a backup of your older iPhone.

  • Backup to iCloud

Step one: Launch the Settings app from your home screen and go to “iCloud”

Step two: Select “Backup” and you need to make sure that the setting is now on. After that, all you have to do is to select “Back Up Now” and wait for the backup process to complete.

iCloud serves as an ideal method to back up your iPhone as it offers efficient backup. However, the process could take a while if you have a larger device.

  • Backup to iTunes

iTunes is a perfect way to back up your old iPhone cause it is fast. Here is how you do it

Step one: First and foremost, you need to open iTunes and connect your old iPhone to your computer

Step two: Select your old device and head to the Summary screen in iTunes

Step three: Next up, find backup sections and select “This Computer”. Make sure you check the box next to “Encrypt Backups”.  Encrypting iTunes backups ensures that passwords and health data are backed up. Make sure that you encrypt the backup. If not, it will not be a complete backup.

Step four: Once you are done, choose “Back Up Now”  and let the backup process begin
