Meet the iPhone 6s & 6s Plus

Apple has just announced the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, together with an all-new Apple TV and the iPad Pro.  The new iPhones look very similar (identical!) to the current iPhone 6 model but Apple claims that the new devices are completely new! The company claims that its new smartphones are the most advanced phones ever produced with some unique features.

Lets start with the basics! The new iPhones 6s will feature an all new A9 processor and the company claims that the chip is 70% faster than the A8 featured in the iPhones 6.

The new smartphones are coming with an all-new 12MP camera and a 5MP FaceTime camera. The company claims that they made some major improvements into the sensor of their camera that improves low-light condition photos. Most importantly the all new camera is capable of recording UHD 4K videos. Apple also decided to take advantage of the Retina display, and now the screen works like a flash when you are trying to take a low-light selfie. Similar to the dual LED flash in the back, the device recognises the light temperature and creates a very similar colour tone for the front facing flash – display.

Additionally, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will feature an all new Touch-ID sensor that will be twice as fast. The most important of all updates, I think, is the all new display of the devices. The new smartphones will ship with an all-new 3D Touch display. The display can understand the difference between a simple touch and when you are applying force. The 3D Touch extends the capabilities of the new devices with new gestures and new ways to interact with apps even from the Home screen. The company also claims that the new iPhones will offer faster LTE and Wi-Fi due to some upgrades to the receivers.

Live Photos will also be supported by the new smartphones. Live Photos are next generation pictures that allow you to extend the capture and record sound in a photo. Apple claims that Live Photos are not videos but to me it looks very very similar.

The devices will come with the all new iOS 9 that also includes the ‘hey Siri’ feature. This is similar to ‘Ok Google’ and means that Siri will always be listening and will not require the long press of the home button. Although this is a good feature, privacy is my main concern.

Last but not least the new iPhones will be made out of 7000 series aluminium. Although, the new aluminium makes the shell of the new devices stronger, only upcoming bend tests will show the real difference!

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available from pre-0rder, starting September 12 and the shipping day is set for September 25. The devices will be available in four colours including Space Grey, Silver, Gold and an all-new Rose Gold taint.
