Microsoft Surface Pro 4, bigger and faster

Microsoft has just announced the all new, bigger and faster Surface Pro 4. This is the first year that the Surface will have some major competition including Apple’s new iPad Pro, Lenovo’s Miix 700, and Dell’s rumored new XPS 12.

The new device has the same design language as its predecessor but is thinner at 8.4 mm and sports a larger 12.3-inch display. The new display uses the PixelGlass technology and has over 5 million pixels with over 267-ppi. Additionally, the new display also supports 1024 levels of pressure and comes with the new pen that now has an eraser and attaches magnetically to the device.

The Surface is powered by a 6th generation Core i7 Intel processor, 16GB of RAM and an impressive 1TB of internal storage.

Microsoft claims that the Pro 4 is 30% faster than the Surface Pro 3 and 50% faster than the MacBook Air. Similar to the new Surface Pro 4, the new Type Cover is thinner, lighter and has a new trackpad that is 40-percent larger. The new Type Cover also works with the Surface Pro 3.

The device has the Microsoft Hello feature that allows you to log you in to the computer with your face or by using the all-new fingerprint scanner found on the keyboard.

Price and availability? The Surface Pro 4 starts at $899 in the USA and £749 in the UK.  You will be able to pre-order the Pro 4 starting October 7.  The device will be available at stores on October 26.
