Nokia Lumia 930 Review by Vodafone

Nokia Lumia 930 has been available for a while now but is still considered to be Microsoft’s flagship smartphone. In this review we will discuss the Specifications, the Screen, Battery Life and Camera. Also we will compare pictures and videos taken by an iPhone 6 with pictures and videos taken by the Lumia.

The Lumia 930 features a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, with clock speed of 2.2 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. Although the specifications are not impressive the Lumia is considered as a fast phone for everyday tasks. The phone also is powered by  2 GB RAM, which is 1GB  more than the iPhone 6 but also 1 GB less than the brand new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.  For benchmark test we used GFXBench T-Rex HD on-screen, in which Lumia 930 scored 20 and the iPhone 48,9 (higher is better)

The smartphone has a 5 inch, 1080 x 1920 screen with 441 ppi (pixels per inch). Its screen on maximum brightness is. On a scale from 1 to 10 we give the Lumia a 6 whereas an iPhone 6 would get an 8. It is the same story with the brightness on minimum. In general he iPhone can have its screen more bright and less dimmed than the Lumia 930. On the other hand though, the screen is really good with excellent contrast ratio and excellent colour temperature.

Battery Life

In our test the Lumia 930 was able to keep up with Wi-Fi on for roughly 14 hours (not using it). On a daily basis we were getting on average of around 5 hours with normal use and 4G switched on. To give you an idea the iPhone 6  can keep up for 7 hours with the same use.

This is where Lumia’s strengths really come into play. Lumia 930 features a 20 MP 4992 х 3744 pixels camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus and dual-LED flash and for the professionals the Lumia features a 1/2.5’’ sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size. The Lumia is capable of shooting in 2160p@30fps 4K video and features optical stabilisation, and stereo sound recording.

The secondary or front facing  camera has a 1.2 MP sensor capable of 720p videos.

Sheffield Cathedral by iPhone 6  vs Lumia 930

As you can see the 4K video taken by Lumia 930 is much better than the 1080p taken by the iPhone. You can see many more details of the Cathedral and the colours are more natural and vibrant. It is the same story with the pictures.
