Nvidia recalls Shield tablets due to battery fire fears

Nvidia has just issued a recall for its Shield gaming tablet after finding out that its battery “can overheat, posing a fire hazard.”

The company stated that the recall is voluntary, but Nvidia is asking users to back up their data and then fill in the online form to receive a replacement tablet.

The issue affects tablets sold between July 2014 and July 2015 and the company allows you to check if your tablet is affected by going to the Settings menu, clicking “About tablet,” then “Status,” and looking at the “Battery” section. If at the Battery section you can see “B01,” you can continue using the tablet as normal otherwise If you see “Y01” your device is at risk of overheating and you should complete the online form so you can receive a replacement ASAP.

You can find the online form by clicking here.
