Optimize Your Galaxy S9/S9 Plus? Here are tips to do so

Although Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus have same quite similar design to their predecessor, Galaxy S8 and S8 plus, it’s undeniable that both of them are two of the most powerful flagship smartphones this year.

If you are using a Galaxy S9 or S9+, here are these tips and tricks to get the most out of your phone.

Display Customization

Control screen’s color balance


On the Galaxy S9 and S9 plus, you can freely control the color representations. There are four default options as well as a bar for you to adjust the temperature. Select advanced options and you can even adjust the RGB spectrum to your taste.

HDR10 for all videos

While there are not any video contents currently supporting HDR, thanks to the Video Enhancer option on the S9 and S9+, it lets you adjust videos to be brighter and get better contrast. To do so, simply head to Settings > Advanced Settings > Video Enhancer and then able the option.

One-handed mode


In advanced settings options, there is also an option to reduce the screen size so that you can access with one hand. From here, you can choose from two options, but you should select the diagonal sliding from bottom to top.

Horizontal Mode

You can also rotate the icons in the app drawer or on the home page. To do so, you should turn off the vertical mode in Settings > Screen > Home screen.

Camera tricks

AR Emoji


You want to be a star of your own emojis. Well, there is an excellent new feature of the Galaxy S9/S9+ that is AR emoji. All you need is to use the camera app, take a selfie and then create an emojis that looks like you. You will also have tweaking options to fine tune your character before generating the moving emojis.

To create your own AR Emoji, simply open the camera app and switch to the front-facing camera. Now, choose AR Emoji option and take a selfie. After that, follow the on-screen instructions to create your character and then download your emojis. You can then use them in message apps to send to your friends.

Super Slow Motion 

To get automatic shooting you should prepare something. Firstly, make sure you are in good light. Secondly, you should stand at an optimal distance to capture it well. After you start shooting, it will automatically record in slow motion once the movement is detected in the yellow frame. The video will continue to record and the Super Slow Motion can be triggered again when the frame is empty.

Use a Super Slow Motion video to create a GIF

Once you create a video with the super slow camera, it’s time to create a GIF directly from your video gallery. You can search for the video and slide your finger up the screen to see the details. Touch on any of them and you will be able to edit and save the GIF.

Save battery

Put apps to sleep

You can easily control the apps that are draining your battery from the menu. All you need is to tap on the drum icon to uncheck the apps you want and tap on Save at the top right.

Lower screen resolution


The S9 and S9+ feature a resolution of up to WQHD+. However, it’s a huge waste of power. To use your phone longer, we recommend you to lower the screen resolution of your S9/S9 Plus. By default, the FullHD option will be checked, but you can set it to HD resolution to save more energy.

Lower the clock from the CPU

If you want to save maximum battery power, there are two saving mode options on Galaxy S9/S9 plus: medium and high. To enable them, navigate to Settings > Device maintenance > Battery and from there, you choose low, medium or high power saving options. In these options, ensure to limit the speed for the CPU to save the most battery power.

Tweak the sound

Improve audio quality


There are a few options to improve the sound of your Galaxy phone. To get started, you can check the Dolby Atmos option. After that, in its settings, you can switch between four modes for adjustment. When the Dolby option is disabled, you can also switch the equalizer off. In this case, you can use UHQ upscaler and Tube Amp Pro to get music experience.

Use Two Bluetooth Headsets

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ let you pair two Bluetooth headsets and then listen to music or watch a movie at the same time. Pair two headphones and enable ‘Dual Audio’ in the Bluetooth settings.

Edge Tricks 

Pair apps

With the S9 and S9+, you can open two applications at the same time from Apps Edge menu. The two selected apps will be opened in Multi Window mode, the first one stays above, and the other is below.

Edge Lighting

When the screen is face down, this you still know if there are any incoming notifications with this feature.  All you need is navigating to Settings > Display > Edge Screen and enable the Edge screen lighting. There is also an option to customize it to your liking.

Optimize Bixby

You want to make most of Bixby’s voice by automating tasks. All you need is going into My Bixby menu and you will then see area to add Quick Commands on the second window. Now, you have to voice the instruction for Bixby in order to recognize it and you can manually add instructions that you want to trigger. For now, when saying a particular word or phrase, Bixby will do everything as you previously set it up.
