Pavegen has teamed up with Tesla to test an experimental charger. This is not a your average charger. The Pavegen charger tops up your electronic devices through kinetic energy from footsteps. The company states that you would need “several hundred thousand” steps just to drive a Model S for 20 minutes in a downtown area. This might not sound much but the charger will probably work in busy areas such as Oxford street.

Pavegen’s technology converts footsteps into electricity to power services in high-footfall locations and provide real-time data for analytics. Founded in 2009, the company has delivered over 100 projects, including Heathrow Airport and Harrods.
