Post Office now offers pay-as-you-go SIMs

The Post Office is launching a pay-as-you-go SIM that focuses specifically on cheap calls and texts.

Post Office has decided to entered  into the mobile industry by launching its own SIM card. Post Office Mobile is a new virtual mobile network and is powered by EE’s infrastructure.

At 8 pence per minute for nearly all domestic landline or mobile, calls are cheaper than the standard rates set by Vodafone, O2 and Virgin Mobile. However, if you are looking for data Post Office mobile might not be the best solution.  The Post Office charges 10 pence per MB and currently doesn’t support 4G connectivity.

The market is very competitive and not long ago Carphone Warehouse has launched its own virtual network as well. Post Office Mobile is powered by one of the biggest networks in UK – EE – and also its high-street branches are all over the UK  and it should be relatively easy to get a small but significant market share.
