Some Nexus 6P Smartphones face battery issues due to Nougat Update

Android 7.0 Nougat has been available for a while for Nexus and Pixel devices and with it comes tons of new features ranging from Split-View mode to quick-switching apps. However, like Apple this year, who has to deal with unexpected shutdown issue that hits several iPhone 6s models manufactured between September and October 2015, Google seems to be facing the same issue with its Huawei-manufactured Nexus 6P.

Accordingly, many Nexus 6P owners have reported that their devices suffer from random shutdown even when there is nearly 60 percent battery life remaining after Android 7.0 Nougat update. Other users say that their Nexus 6P shows 10 to 60 percent of battery life remaining before it shuts off and they have decided to downgrade to Android 6.0 to avoid bugs.

Many users have contacted Huawei in the hope that they can fix the problem. However, Huawei says that they are not responsible for the issue, instead the issue is with Google’s updated software, not hardware. Google, for its part, does not have any fixing solutions for the problem.

Nexus 6P was officially unveiled back in September 2015 along with its sibling Nexus 5X. The device brings in significant changes over its previous Nexus models including an all-aluminum based body, a rear fingerprint reader and better cameras. Under the hood, Nexus 6P uses a faster octa-core Snapdragon 810, 3GB of RAM and has 32/ 64/ 128 GB of internal storage.

Similar to its previous model, Nexus 6P features an AMOLED display with resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Besides, the device also includes a reversible USB Type-C dock connector, enhanced LTE connectivity and impressive battery performance. Nexus 6P features 12.3 MP rear camera with Sony Exmor IMX377 sensor. This year, Google releases Pixel and Pixel XL, the first smartphones with Google’s logo that replaces Nexus devices. This means that you will not see any further Nexus models in the future.
