Steps to control Home Sharing using iTunes Remote

Home Sharing is a great feature that allows you to connect content between your Mac and Apple TV in your home. This means that you now can easily access music, movies and audiobooks from your iTunes library across multiple devices as long as they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.


With iTunes Remote app, you can control everything directly from your iPhone or iPad, eliminating the need to run around and control your music, videos or audio books from all your devices. In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to control Home Sharing using the iTunes Remote app.

  1. Steps to control Home Sharing with the iTunes Remote app

Before we begin, make sure that you have set up Home Sharing on your device. If you have not already done so, do it first

Step one: You are now supposed to download iTunes Remote app from the App Store. Once you are done, you need to launch the app from your home screen to proceed

Step two: Next up, you need to tap Set up Home Sharing and tap a Device to proceed. Once you are in, select the media you want to play. You will be presented with four options including Playlists, Artists, Search and Album

Step three: Tap on the media you wish to play. You can control your playback using the standard controls like play, pause, forward or repeat

Step one: Launch the iTunes Remote app from your home screen and tap Settings to proceed

Step two: Once you are on, all you need to do is to tap Add an iTunes Library

Step three: Head back to your computer and launch iTunes. You now need to click the remote button and enter the passcode you get from your iPhone or iPad

Step four: Once you are done, click OK to complete the task
