Steps to hide contact photos from the Messages app

73iOS 10 is making it much easier and quicker for users to communicate using the Messages app. Apple’s messaging app now offers dozens of ways to express your emotions with stickers, bigger emoji characters and third-party apps.

However, one of the most annoying things when it comes to Apple’s Messages app is that it displays contact photos for each of your conversation on larger iPhone models, even if you have not already set up photos with your contacts. Luckily, you can easily turn off this functionality on your iPhone with some simple steps. In this step-by-step guide, we will run you through the steps to hide contact photos from the Messages app in iOS 10

Steps to hide contact photos from the Messages app in iOS 10

Step one: First and foremost, you are supposed to launch the Settings app from your home screen. After that, all you need to do is to scroll down a little bit and tap on the Messages preference pane to proceed

Step two: Next up, you will notice that the Show Contact Photos option is now turned on. All you need to do now is to tap on the toggle next to it to disable the feature

Once you are done, the Messages app will automatically save the change, eliminating the need to force quit the Messages app from the App Switcher that can be done by tapping two times on the Home button on your iPhone.

Note that the new setting will affect all of your conversations in the Messages app, so if you want to change your mind, all you need to do is to repeat the above process and flip the switch next to Show Contact Photos to ON position. Basically, once you have enabled Show Contact Photos,  you will notice that there is a tiny contact photo at the left side of the contact names. If you find it annoying, turn it off.
