The best tips and tricks for your Samsung Galaxy S9

  1. Home screen landscape

With the S9 and S9 Plus, Samsung revamped its home screen, making it more visually appealing while refining existing app icons. The coolest part is that you now can activate landscape mode in the Samsung Experience launcher. This comes in handy if you want to use your favorite apps or watch YouTube videos in full-screen mode.

To enable the feature, long-press on any empty space and hit the Settings button from the drop-down menu. After that, you simply need to turn off the switch for Portrait mode to activate landscape mode and then turn the phone. Once you do that, your home screen will rotate to landscape orientation.

  1. Navigation customizations

This year, Samsung continues to use on-screen navigation buttons on its flagship phones. Samsung’s move makes way for the gorgeous Infinite Display. By default, your navigation buttons are set left to right as Recents, Home, and Back. With the S9 and S9 Plus, you can change the order to suit your preferences.

To do this, open the Settings app on your device, then select Display and locate Button Layout. Once you are in, select your desired order. You also can select your preferred background color for your navigation bar.

  1. Use biometrics properly

There are three methods to unlock your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus, including fingerprints, iris scans, and face recognition. To make your unlocking experience less painful, Samsung built a handy feature called Intelligent Scan into its S9 and S9 Plus.

Intelligent Scan allows S9 owners to quickly unlock their device more quickly with face recognition system. To enable Intelligent Scan, open the Settings on your device, select Lock screen and security and hit Screen lock type.

  1. Disable Bixby

With the S9 and S9 Plus, Samsung retains the Bixby button from the last year’s models. This may come in handy for those who want to try out Samsung’s personal assistant. However, if you never use Bixby, then it’s a good idea to disable Bixby button.

To do this, launch Bixby on your device, then hit the Settings icon at the top and turn off the switch for Bixby. Once you are done, launch the Settings app and then turn off Bixby Voice. After that, long-press on any empty space and then disable the Bixby home screen panel.

  1. Improve your sensitivity

With the S9 and S9 Plus, you can easily increase your sensitivity for better use with screen protectors. To do this, open Settings, then scroll down a little bit and hit Advanced features and turn on the switch for Touch sensitivity.
