Verizon, one of the biggest carriers in the US, has just released a new Android-based tablet named GizmoTab, which is specifically designed for children and parents. GizmoTab is not the first tablet for children in the market, but what makes GizmoTab stand out lies in its bumper case that protects it against drops. Verizon has begun selling its 8-inch tablet today for only 79 USD on a two-year contract and 250 USD off contract.
Like most child-friendly tablets, GizmoTab offers tons of apps created especially for kids age 3-8. Besides, there are also more than 300 education-themed apps including Play-Doh ABCs, Operation Math Code Squad and more, all presented in a user-friendly interface with a series of islands, exclusively for those with Verizon account. GizmoTab lets parents control their kid’s use and set limits on how long they can use the device or contents they are watching.
Verizon’s GizmoTab runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a Snapdragon 617 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The new tablet features an 8MP rear shooter, a 5MP front-facing camera and a 5100mAh battery. Besides, GizmoTab also comes with an 8-inch display with resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, promising to be sharper than the panels found in the Fire Kids Edition and the LeapFrog Epic. Noticeably, GizmoTab supports cellular connectivity.
GizmoTab is a great tablet for both kids and parents thanks to its useful features and a huge number of educational apps. The new tablet includes parental management and tracking, allowing parents to learn how their kids use the device as well as block access to specific apps.

GizmoTab marks the second tablet Verizon has released this year. Last month, Verizon announced its new Ellipsis HD tablet with an 8-inch 1920×1200 LCD panel, 3GB of RAM and an octa-core Snapdragon 617. Verizon is selling Ellipsis HD tablets for $99.99 on a 2-year contract.
