Top 5 Samsung Galaxy S9 features you need to know

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is finally here after months of endless rumors and reports. Samsung’s latest flagship phone is not a significant upgrade over its predecessor, but it includes a lot of new things that are worth your time. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of the best Galaxy S9 features, so you can get the most out of Samsung’s newest Galaxy phone.

For some background, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be released on March 16, but pre-order for device has gone online in Europe. Samsung’s new S9 will be priced at $719.99 in the US, but US-based customers need to wait a little bit longer to pre-order the handset.

  1. Repositioned fingerprint scanner

Last year, Samsung placed the fingerprint scanner right next to the camera lens on the back of the S8. Samsung’s move received mostly negative reviews, with most users struggling to identify where the sensor is. Fortunately, Samsung has learned its lesson. With the S9, the South Korean company moved the fingerprint scanner on the back, beneath the camera. Tech experts say that the center position is not a perfect move, but it at least offers better user experience and allows for an accurate reading.

  1. Dual camera

With the Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung finally adds dual-camera system to its Galaxy S lineup. In reality, dual-camera setup is not something new out there, as it has been an essential part of the Note 8. Basically, two rear shooters on the S9 Plus include the same technology we have already seen on the Note 8. But they have been much improved to offer better picture quality. The Galaxy S9 Plus features two rear shooters on the back, including dual pixel 12MP snapper and a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. The coolest part is that both lens include support for optical image stabilization.

  1. Image Signal Processor

With the Galaxy S9, Samsung poured a lot of love into the camera. The S9 now includes the ability to reduce overall noise in post processing, all made possible by a new Image Signal Processor. The Galaxy S9 also offers faster shutter speed as it can snap 12 images in seconds

  1. 960fps slow-motion video

One of the bestselling points of the Galaxy S9 lies in the ability to record 960fps videos at 720HD resolution. The coolest part is that the process is completely automatic, meaning that the S9 automatically identifies when to record slow-motion video. You can also add effects to your recorded videos and add background music derived from your music library.

  1. AR Emoji

AR Emoji is Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Animoji. The feature is exclusive to the S9 and S9 Plus, allowing users to create a 3D scan of their face. What sets AR Emoji apart from the iPhone X’s Animoji is that you can customize the hair skin, clothes, and accessories to spice up your scan.
