In reality, Windows 10 doesn’t allow you to reset this feature, which is a little bit disappointing. However, there is a simple workaround that can fix the issue.
In this step-by-step guide, we will run you through the steps to fix Window Spotlight lock screen errors on Windows 10.
Step 1: First off, you need to open Settings on Windows 10. Once you are in, you have to click on Personalization to proceed
Step 2: Next up, hit the Lock screen button. If Windows Spotlight is now selected under Background section, make sure that you change the option to Picture or Slideshow
Step 3: Once you are done, open the Run command on your device by using the Windows key + I keyboard shortcut
Step 4: Type the following path : %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets and click OK to proceed
Step 5: You now need to remove all old images. To do this, use Ctrl + A keyboard shortcut and click the Delete button
Step 6: Once you are done, open the Run command again and enter the following path %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\Settings
Step 7: You now need to perform a right-click on settings.dat and then roaming.lock. After that, select Rename from the drop down menu and enter the following names: settings.dat.bak and roaming.lock.bak
Step 8: Restart your computer. Once your computer finishes rebooting, launch Settings > Personalization> Lock screen and activate Windows Spotlight.
